| Is John Edwards still alive? Has he disappeared? |
|
I monitor Broadcast media pretty closely, and I'll be darned if I have heard mention of John Edwards on the campaign trail. I did READ on the internet that he called Cheney on his BS claiming that Osama bin Laden was drooling over the prospect of having two appeasing pussies in the White House ready to surrender our nation to the rule of terrorists who would institute a gay Islamic Communist government, but that's about it.
Call me cynical, but I know that John Edwards is out there, campaigning very hard, and appealing to Americans in a major way.
I think that Wolf and Judy and Paula and Brett think that he's a bit too charming and intelligent and appealing and popular to be prime time, so "to be fair and balanced" they are purposely boycotting him, so as to not give him an unfair advantage.
Thoughts?

I wrote that I "monitor" broadcast news. I did not say that it is my sole source of information and that I trust it utterly and had no idea other options exist. I do watch C-Span to research the truth. That, and Charlie Rose and Bill Moyers, are the only shows I watch for content.
The point of my post was that broadcast media, and cable, appear to be deliberately boycotting the charismatic and charming and convincing Senator Edwards. Can't let people hear what he has to say, for fear that people might discover that he'd be a lot more fun to have a beer with than their beloved George W.

| 2. When cable pundits ask Kerry surrogates 'where is Edwards?' |
|
They should respond: "well, you are a news network, right? you have a reporter assigned to Edwards, don't you? Why don't you ask that reporter where he is, and maybe, REPORT the news?"

campaigning in small towns across America. That's why he hasn't been receiving a lot of nat'l media coverage - - just local. HOWEVER, I did see him on CNN yesterday making a statement on something though I can't recall at the moment what it was about.

The "Stupedia" (LOVE IT!!) keep spoonfeeding us that the popular wartime president and decisive leader the Divine Dubya is "likeable," and that Kerry is not likeable.
So, a truly charismatic, charming, heartfelt leader who genuinely connects with Americans and their issues aka John Edwards -- has got to be iced. Can't acknowledge the existance of anyone more charming than their beloved Dubya. Can't let people see him, for fear they would prefer to have a beer with John Edwards than with George W.

Johnstown is living through hard times.
His Chimperial Majesty was there a week ago, and our local "stupedia" reported how these "ordinary Americans suffering hard times" were in thrall of him, how they saw him as their only hope, and not a modern Herbert Hoover.
I knew that Edwards message would resonate powerfully in places like Johnstown, and I am so glad he spoke there to give people real hope that working people like them might survive.
But funny -- not a WORD in the local "stupedia" about his visit.
I wish I'd have known -- I would have loved to see him address an audience like Johnstown.
Thanks for the report -- otherwise I would not have known.....

Kerry is on the attack now, & have you noticed the change in press coverage? Yesterday, & especially today Kerry is dominating the news, on the same day that Bush made a speech at the UN.
Edwards is talking domestic issues, but this campaign will be won or lost on Iraq, national security, & foreign policy.
Edwards is not credible on FP, & he is not an attack dog. That is also a factor.
He has given the same speech for months, & has just recently retooled it, adding some new stuff.
I am sure, however, he is getting good local coverage. I have been talking about national coverage.

| 22. I believe Edwards is out there doing what Kerry did in Iowa |
|
Meeting people face to face, which is really what Edwards does best anyway.
I know the press is under-reporting him, but in a way that works for us. For one thing, they are not spending time pushing the "Edwards is a greedy trial lawyer" meme. For another, it allows Kerry to stand out front on Iraq - an issue that would not be Edwards strong point. Furthermore, I dare the repukes to question "Where's Edwards?" because Bush has been missing in action for four years.
Yet Edwards IS out there, the stealth VP, meeting people and charming the masses. I expect the next few weeks to see a dual assualt on Bushco. Kerry on the national security front, and Edwards on the Social agenda. In fact, thats exactly what I saw today. Edward's response to the Kerry speech and press conference was all about social agendas. I think BushCo is getting snookered.

He was somewhat impressive. He knows how to work a crowd, that's for sure. But his speech was a bit stale, nothing I hadn't been hearing for the last year. I really wish he and Kerry would talk more about the specifics of Iraq. Bush has screwed up in so many different directions, why are they both being so vague about it? I don't believe that Kerry "doesn't know his position on Iraq" (that's pure bullshit, I trust the Kerry would be a great commander in chief) but he isn't articulating it well. I really hope he kicks it up a knotch for the debates, because time is running out and he NEEDS to win this election. I've volunteered for him a lot as we all have, he needs to start doing his part too.
