| If Alabama is a red state - Why are they airing * campaign ads? |
|
They have been airing his ads for the last week or so on the Mobile stations and it if very annoying. If Alabama is a red state, why are they doing this?
The ads air during coverage of Hurricane Ivan and during the reports of the clean up. Both the local cbs station and the fox station ran hours of coverage after the hurricane, advising folks in Gulf Shores, Pensacola, Dauphin Island and Orange Beach where to get ice, water and help after the hurricane, when curfews were lifted, et cetera.
Were the repulsive RNC - B/C campaign taking advantage of the storm by airing these ads during the coverage? That is so nasty!

If they're spending money airing ads in Alabama, that's money they won't have to run ads in another state where it might make a difference, so I'm all for it!

That is why I love DU, it helps me keep things in perspective!
I am also hoping that their internal polls reflect that Alabama is not as red as they claim!
Thanks for the different perspective.

| 7. Well they show in blue states because they hope to take the |
|
state, but they figure the red states are a lock and they generally don't bother or as another poster points out, waste their money (which I am all for - waste away).

:-) Bad enough Pig Farmer bush* will take this state yet again, but having to view lying bush* campaign ads would only add insult to injury.

too. The Kerry campaign has not aired any ads in a very long time although the DNC has. Don't know the idea behind showing shrub ads here since he isn't going to win the State but I guess the more money he spends where he isn't going to win, the better.

or House races in Alabama? Also, Alabama shares a border with Florida. Perhaps this is a cheap way of hitting parts of northern Florida.

They are taking advantage of the Hurricane Ivan coverage - the local station even did their own commercial thanking the emergency service workers for their help through the struggles - complete with photos of emts, fema, guard officials and workers & with * visiting the damaged areas.

My only guess is that they are trying to keep their popular vote total up. I think that they might be worried about being creamed in the rest of the country. Just a theory.

if it's cable it's probably going out to the whole country. In New York we get them on stations like CNN also and we're not a swing state either.

There's always a 5-6% advantage given to duhbya in the mainstream national polls. So, the 53-42% lead he has in AL is actually 48-47% - virtually a tie.

If the GOP doesn't get some people of color in their racist party they're dead in the long run and they know it. it's not important for this election but in ten years it is. The NAZI label is beginning to stick. Globaly. They can't live with that.
