that it is now innoculating itself against a possible bin Laden capture. It can be done, but the Dems are not doing it at all. That is our one major weak link.
Bill Maher gave him a great opening to do this - on one of his shows weeks ago he said capturing bin Laden is like when Ray Krock, McDonald's CEO, died back in the 80's - it's not going to matter because the franchise has been built.
Kerry should get out there and say that the "war on terror" has been so poorly ran that he is afraid it will not matter if bin Laden is captured dead or alive.
He must hammer this to the American people. He can also suggest that Bush's Iraq diversion has allowed al Queda to grow too strong that it won't matter - that the Bush Adminstration has created 100 bin Laden's in Bush's running of the "war on terrorism."
Why can't they see this?

Not sure where your agnst is coming from, he basically said as much on Letterman, that it doesn't really matter if he's caught.

I heard him say basically that on Letterman. He said something like "i hope he is captured, i really do..the trouble is..." then he went on to say that because Bush took his eye off the ball that Al Queda and groups like them have proliferated and are all over the globe now.

on Letterman, Regis, and his speech on the 2oth.
That is his message now - Iraq has become the new terrorist haven. A captured Osama is moot.
Bush fucked it up royally and must be held accountable.

Maybe you missed it.
Letterman set him up, asking what happens if Osama is killed/captured next month. Kerry said he hoped Osama WOULD get taken out, but that Al Qaidi has grown so much that the problem extends beyond Osama. Al Qaidi is now in 60 countries, terrorists are pouriong into Iraq, etc.
Maybe you should revise your "Stupid" comment?

|
Especially when confronted with a questioner (who slipped through the screening process) who dares ask "So why did you let Osama get away in March 2002?"
And didn't Condoleeza Rice kinda said something to the effect of "there was no magic bullet which could have stopped 9/11 from happening"?

If they had him or thought they could get him, they wouldn't act as if he doesn't exist. They want people to focus on what a bad man Saddam is and not Bin Laden for a reason.

bin laden capture
that would be great, i am all for it. and because they allowed him to escape by sending taliban soldiers that were fighting against us a week ago, to go up into the mountains to capture him when we had him cornered instead of our greatest special something unit allowed him to crete a stronger and more wide spread operation settling in 60 countries
yup. he says that. i have heard it in many of his speeches
now, does the press share it, or do you listen to the speeches, i dont know

He may have said it on the Letterman show, which I missed, but it needs to be said elsewhere - the dems need to get it in their talking points -NOW-.
And face it, if I, a staunch Democrat, missed the Letterman show and have not heard Kerry make this point, what does that tell you? It tells you that the message is not getting out well.
Have you noticed that if there is one singular thing that the repugs do better, it is that of sticking to the talking points. I know it isn't attractive, but it works and we do it terrible.
The Dems should be expressing this on all the Sunday talk shows and all the shows they appear on.

What you're missing is that it won't be repeated as a Talking Point unless the press grabs hold of it. THIS is what the repugs are good at, getting the press in their pocket and getting them to repeat their talking points.
Kerry HAS been saying this, but until the cable news and network news shows and newspapers start reporting it, it won't matter.

secondly, there is so much for the dems to say when it comes to bush and this race, the little time they get, they cant hit it all. but yes..........i think the campaign does have its talking points if obl is captured in oct and will know exactly how to come out and speak to the public. that is a good thing to know they are ready for it if it happens
another there has been universal talk of bush using this as an oct surprise. i feel this truly would be the ultimate in backfiring regardless of what they may feel. it is just horrible to use three thousand deaths (and he was the one responsible) for campaign ploy. i just dont think it will fly

I watch as much media coverage as I can and have not heard the Dems hit this area as hard as they should.
I read quite plentiful. And just what is Letterman's viewership? I bet less than ten million. Not quite the bonanza, eh?
Now you all figure it out - if a staunch democrat, who does follow the news and politics quite closely, has not received this message, than what does that tell you about the rest of the American population?
Insulting the messenger is not the way to go - getting out the message about how the capture of OBL may not matter much is what is important and this IS something the Dems are doing a terrible job on.
And it is time for someone line Joe Lieberman to fall on his sword and be trotted out to make this well known. He is the perfect person for this and it's time he paid his dues to the Dem party.
This should be the No 1 talking point if the Kerry campaign is going to move Iraq to the front burner. Now, did he make this clear on Regis and whatever? And he needs to get on Oprah and put it out there as well....

And please don't post stupid in your thread like that? It makes you a target for nasty responses. The only one that appears stupid is you, since Kerry has made that his talking point. Go to the LBN threads for the last week, you will find links to articles and appearances where he has been slamming * on this.

The Kerry campaign is obviously doing something right, or we wouldn't be up in electoral votes in the polls. The South is closer than anyone thinks it is (some numbers I just read on this board) and Kerry is doing his homework ahead of time to ensuring that EVERY VOTE IS COUNTED this time.
