The more I hear this healthcare debate the more I'm convinced that I would like access to medicare. It is rank age discrimination to prohibit younger people from access to a government program that does so much better than the sucky private insurance we workers are stuck with.
After reading all the horror stories on health care, I realize my belief that private insurance would keep me from medical financial catastrophe is a lie. I also realize that I won't know how good or bad my carrier is until I get really really sick.
Two recent incidents of acquaintances in their thirties with life threatening conditions bring me to the reality that we are all vulnerable. I've come to the conclusion that under our private insurance system, none of us are assured we won't become a financial catastrophe.
If President Obama wants to risk his presidency on healthcare, I wish he find something meaningful to do it on.
