| I stand in Goddamned Awe of you guys! (Parlock Affair) |
|
The work you guys have done on this sad and sorry affair may be more important than you know. As it presently stands, it looked like the frothing right had a clear and open field in which to play their "Ratfuck"(Bad Crazy Dirty Tricks) games. They were being allowed, by the lazy and complacent media, free reign to generate whatever story lines they wanted, by the sheer force of will. They enjoyed no review of their actions.
You guys just changed the rules.
All of you, too many to name, have done The Good Work in Profusion and are well worthy of feeling goddamned proud of yourselves.
So now, the track record(Walt's investigation, Parlock) is already impressive, but just consider how far we have to go. Remain sure and certain that there will be more.
As it was said in Will's piece: You guys are doing the media's work and you are changing the rules, for the qualified better.
I can think of no more constructive use for DU.
You guys rock. I am damned proud to hang with you.
Can you imagine what Watergate and Iran Contra might have been if there was an Internet and DU? We would be living in a far different country now, I posit. Consider the power that you have at your fingertips and use it very wisely. Wisely indeed. Remember that The Romans used to put a slave on the back of the chariot of a conquering Roman General, when he returned to Rome and was receiving the adulation of the crowds in a parade called a "Triumph". The slave stood and whispered in the ear of the general this line:
Sic Transit Gloria Mundi: Glory is Fleeting.

| 2. As I said the story had to die |
|
as it was being told by them, and the context had to be changed
Parlock is an agent provocateour, and now he has been uncovered
Oh and I am with you, in awe but we still have much longer to go

This is no time to sit on our laurels. Keep the computers on and ready. DU is proving itself as one of the best Oppo research resources the DNC has never paid for. And we can do it again and again and again and again...
I certainly hope that the frothers that are reading this find their bowels loosened by this fact.

| 16. Remember this one little point: |
|
Most criminal indictments and convictions, especially in major cases, hinge on circumstantial evidence, not physical or eyewitness evidence. Means, motive and opportunity.
It is Hollywood that has devalued circumstantial evidence in the service of creating a plot device.

That's why I said "In summary". I was just asking if there had been some revelation or drop dead facts that may have unfolded. I apologize for asking instead of spending hours looking on my own.

I am just amazed at the investigations. I'm in awe of it all. I go to bed, pissed as hell about that little girl story, I get up, turn on the computer, go directly to DU and what do I find????? The Parlock investigation!! Holy cow. This place really is incredible. That's why the RWers are working their asses off trying to figure out how to LIMIT information on the internet. The web is their Achilles Heel.
Here's to DU! and all the fantastic investigators and activists! :toast:

It's good to know that even a few people, working together, can undermine a GOP talking point.

We were lucky to have our Johnny on the story for Iran/Contra (not to mention BCCI). I think alot of people forget he was the one who got to the bottom of that story with his investigations.
So I suppose that means we're carrying on in his proud tradition. Yea us.

| 19. I met Robert F. Kennedy today and |
|
had a minute to chat with him at a book signing. We talked about the Fairness Doctrine. I told him that perhaps more important than the Fairness Doctrine is the challenge of keeping the internet free for our use without the threat of cyber-espionage. I agree that the entire landscape has changed and adapted to a new reality. Now the challenge is to continue to adapt to what we know will be a series of attacks on this freedom.

Looked pretty haggard, probably because of the signing tour, but I'm really glad that he's getting the exposure he deserves.
btw, inside the front cover, in the place where he was going to sign my copy of his book, I wrote: "By signing below I promise to run for president in 2012 SIGNED, JFK, Jr."
He didn't laugh, not even a smile...oh well.
