"How can she disgrace her son's life this way?"
Nevermind the fact that he was young and taken advantage of, and that GW Bush NEVER put his life in the line of danger to defend our country in a JUST CAUSE as John Kerry and many other TRUE patriots before and after actually have.

Apparently she didn't get the memo.
The response she and her ex-husband got (soliciting contributions) is terrible

| 7. "Arresting a Gold Star Mother" |
|
This is yet another example of why I love - in a most platonic and true to my marriage vows way - Keith Olberman. His introduction to the video was superb. What were these idiots thinking arresting a Gold Star Mother? So citizens cannot assemble OUTSIDE of a Bush campaign event and voice opinions that differ with the Rethugs. Odious bastards. And, I too loved the line about being solicited for a campaign contribution. What a pack of heartless bushbots.

I'd read about this, as everyone here has, but hadn't been able to catch the news to see it.
It's chilling, it really is. Cuffed and hauled away right in front of the cameras, for all to see. It just reeks of a Police State that doesn't care what the people think, so long as they toe the line. Where protest is a crime, where speaking your mind at a political event is no longer merely a disruption, but a danger to be contained by any means. And you watching at home, the subtext reads, had better get the message.
I hope everyone who considers themselves an American will see this video, and take a cold, hard look at what our country is becoming under the rule of the Bush administration.

| 14. THIS Needs To Get Media Blasted!!! |
|
Let's force the media to debate that "poor mom disgracing" the troops garbage. They tried the same to the lady in F911. And there are more parents who are attempting to speak out...as well as returning veterans whose stories are still too fresh and painful.
Two years ago my wife's best friend lost her son in a "military accident". I'll never forget seeing the gold star and the candle in the window...and the tremendous sorrow that was inside that house that night. A young life snuffed in it's prime...a mother's life's work and best friend gone.
This lady needs to be sat down with a Jon Stewart or Keith Olberman and tell her story...put a face to one of the 1,000. This war has to be brought into homes in the most intimate...and sadly, gruesome means possible, if we're ever going to break this stranglehold of how public, and especially media, ignorance or indifference to what's going on.
Here's hoping someone in the New York media is picking up on this story...using the New Jersey angle...that can somehow keep the ball moving on this story. Definitely, this requires all of us to spread the word and hope it falls onto some good ears.

You reap what you sow, Bushies. You really have killed over 1,000 Americans, and those Aamericans have mothers. I'm surprised this doesn't happen more often to be honest...

| 18. Shouting her down was so... "bush"! |
|
I could have cried when I saw her on the news. I've been thinking for some time, now, that parents of downed soldiers are going to be the ones to lash out. How could Laura deny a mother her say? And the crowd chanting "Four more years" was the lowest. My country has lost its way.
Thanks for pointing me to your thread, underpants!
