Report from SW Ohio

The really good news is MoveOn, ACT, Vote Mob, Voting is Power and Young Voter Alliance are all here. There are almost no unregistereds left to register.

I have been on vacation this week so I have spent the last 5 days posting flyers and registering and or asking young people to sign a pledge to vote for change.

I have worked in two different arenas. The U of Cincinnati campus and surrounding area, and some of the predominantly African American neighborhoods in Cincinnati. Posting mostly the Draft Alert flyer, I have noticed a racial difference in reactions to a draft. African Americans are much more alarmed, perhaps because Vietnam was fought by minorities. Today I hit barber shops, utility poles at foot traffic busy street corners, boarded up shop windows and bus stops in 5 urban neighborhoods. Meanwhile talking to almost everyone I passed on the street about Nov. 2.

Being here in Virginia (most likely a Bush state) all eyes are on Ohio and the work you folks up there are doing.

Needless to say, if we win this election YOU and people like you have "hoe'd" (how the hell is that spelled?) a tougher row. Your work and sacrifice for Democracy is appreciated.

We need every vote we can get. If every member of DU kinkoed 500 flyers and put them on car windshields we could get the important facts out to the underinformed.

6. All this walking around with flyers... I may have lost a couple lbs.

I also have an "I Joined the Vote Mob" T shirt. I just point to my shirt as I pass people on the street and say, "Nov. 2, you ready?" with a smile. Everyone knows what I am talking about.
