| Waiting for Hurricane Jeanne while the GOP destroys democracy. |
|
Well, I'm down here in Palm Beach county waiting for hurricane Jeanne to hit us this afternoon and tonight. Needless to say, we're fucking scared.
Nonetheless, I had time to read this morning's newspapers and my fear was joined by nausea. Republicans have distributed literature in Arkansas and West Virginia that says that if Democrats win, bibles will be banned and gay marriage will be allowed.
An article by Leonard Pitts. Jr. (yesterday's Miami Herald, today's Palm Beach Post) reported that one of the murderers of Chaney, Schwerner and Goodman (if you don't know who they are, Google it) will be signing autographs at a Jackson, Mississippi fair next month. Message: The Trent Lotts of the world are still in charge.
And you just know that Karl Rove is slobbering over a hurricane hit in Palm Beach county where most of the vote is democratic.
I don't know what scares me more, hurricane Jeanne, or a Republican win (or theft) which will ensure the end of democracy in America.

My thoughts, prayers and best wishes are for all people who are in the path of this thing. I hope it "fizzles" before it reaches you.
Second, we have to continue to fight these SOBs with all we have. The murderer signing autographs just makes me sick to my stomach but we have to work through our revulsion and fight back harder and harder.
I'll be damned if I'm going to let these SOBs take my country without a fight.

"There, there. There, there."
We're all f*cked, whether by the wind, by fire or by ice. I'm thinking of becoming a Republican so that I can pretend this is all fun, if only for a little while. I wonder if the Kool-Aid is grape or cherry?
I lived in Florida for 7 years, it's both beautiful as hell and scary as hell. I loved the hibiscus and confederate jasmine that grew in my front yard, and despised the 6" banana spiders in my eaves. I guess there's no such thing as a place or time where it's all hibiscus and jasmine all the time, is there?
Hang in there.

I'm gonna inflate my raft and start paddling to Sweden.
(On edit: sorry it took a while to get back, but either DU or my computer was screwed up.)

as for those who live in Mississippi, and can't wait to get the autograph of a murdering, racist piece of shit, fuck 'em.
In the meantime, the winds are starting to pick up here and I'm not sure how much longer I'll have power. Hopefully, it will stay on for hours so that I can do my best to ignore the storm and rain curses down upon GOP pond scum.
