YES, I know, the debate hasn't happened yet. But, there is very little point in waiting for events to happen before you report them when your name is CNN. Following their lead, or rather, attempting to get a jump on them, I have sent the following e-mail to CNN chastising them for declaring Bush the winner....

NOW -- How about we each select an idea, or all of the above, and IN ADVANCE let these pundits know we are on to their game, that we know they will declare Bush the debate winner for some crap reason having to do with being folksy, having a beer, sounding too smart, make-up, hair, or color of tie. gave up sponsoring the debates because of the debacle of control the 2 parties insisted on...they became rather worthless...sponsors should check the meaning of debate...What will George Worthless do without his prompts and cheat sheets..?Maybe someone should check his palms before he goes out...

9. No, No, No -- Can't You See This Is GOOD?

We've got The Expectations Game being played here -- and Dear Leader is being painted as an impossible-to-beat World Debat'n Cham-peen, sure to chew the stultified and lumpish flip-flopper all the way to the surf.

That's EXACTLY what we want!

Now it's up to BUSH not to fumble or flip or flop or stare in vacant terror at a question. Better, if Kerry -- who is getting a LOT better press since Monday's Iraq speech -- now comes across as somewhat charming or better yet, with that ever-elusive "gravitas" that Dubya can't even conceive of, voila! Kerry will "win" without even talking about any of the content of the speech.

Kerry himself started this spinning on THE DAILY SHOW, and I think it's exactly what he needs to do.

I heard several spins to that effect yesterday including the Imus show.
This is just a gentle reminder to not repeat the behavior that they displayed during the Repub convention...

13. You read my mind!!!

Last election they had built up such low expectations for Bush that the mere fact that he didn't sh*t his pants on stage made him the winner. Let them expect him to win. They've called him a debate genius...fine...let's see the genius at work!

Let them expect Kerry to be a lifeless, complicated, card-board figure bore. The picture they have painted of Kerry is going to make them see the real Kerry as the handsome, Mr. Personality with the clear answers that he is. He even surprised me at the convention...he'll surprise everyone at the debates.

The difference between Kerry and Gore is that Kerry is very natural with being himself and exudes confidence.

On edit: Most people don't realize how tall Kerry is. (6'4"...6'6" if you count the hair) How stately and presidential he will look towering over the little weasel. Bush...the little man with the simple-minded ideas.

14. Another consideration about Bush*

His physical/mental condition has deteriorated significantly these past four years. Even if he WAS a "master debater" at one time, he ISN't anymore. He can't even handle a simple press conference without hemming, hawing, stammering and spinning out into George World, so I'm not concerned about the debates.....Kerry will slay the drooling idiot Boy King!

Bush looked "good" in the 2000 debates because he was expected to fail so miserably. As long as he didn't drool on himself he was going to be declared the winner.

Let them declare Bush the favorite. It only works in our favor.
