| Will Bush catch Bin Laden before the election? |

It is almost the month of October Surprise. What will happen now?

already been captured. They're just waiting for the right time-like when news from Iraq turns really bad.

|
I can't find the link but she said this in a speech. I would not put it passed them to have him somewhere in a holding cell or even to bring out somebody who looks like him.

|
His main priority was Iraq. bin Laden was a side-show. He doesn't care that OBL perpetrated the murder of 3,000 Americans. He was after Iraq and Hussein from the get-go.

it would not make any difference to the idiot in the W.H. I really believe that bush* attacked Iraq to help his re-election chances. You know, Americans don't vote a president out in war time. I'm sure that's been batted around a bit. bush's* plans were upset when his buddy, OBL, did what he did. Just an opinion.

First of all it would look WAY too convenient to just pull him out of a hat now. Dems have done this very well: we have made it a well-established fact that if OBL were to be "caught" in Sept or Oct of 2004, it'd be suspicious on the part of the bush administration to the point of most non-bush die-hards not really believing it.
SO, if they really did have him and were just waiting, they would have brought him out, I think, in June or so. That way they could boast about it for a good long while and get their numbers up.
I really don't think they have him. Either that, or they are stupid enough to wait to reveal him until right before the election. To which most people I know, even repubs, would have a good eye-rolling session over.

It would be a pretty see-through ploy, but...
I don't think the American army CAN catch Bin Laden, and I don't think the Pakistanis want to. We have zero capabilities on the ground in that terrain and not a damned active-duty horse left in the whole army. We will not fly gunships because of all the US-made stingers (from the mujahedeen days!) unaccounted for in the region. Our humvees are too wide for the roads and the region is too big to search on foot.
Not all Pakistanis are OBL fans--but the hunt being on doesn't seem to be hurting their relations with India and the US, either! Once he's caught, no more honeymoon.... And they are a muslim country with WMD. The manhunt seems to be protecting them right now.

| 11. It seems to me that, if they had Bin Laden already, |
|
or if they were on the verge of catching him, they would have played it up at the RNC. Bin Laden was hardly mentioned at the RNC.
Also, I cannot see Bin Laden's people just sitting idly by if they knew that Bin Laden were in custody. That assumes, of course, that the Bush people haven't struck some sort of deal. I'm assuming for now that that has not happened.
Could they roll out a "reconstructed" corpse and claim that it's Bin Laden? Of course. I don't put much past them. But I just think they would be "playing up" Osama if that were the October Surprise. Bush hasn't mentioned Bin Laden in ages.

convention!
Isn't that crazy? The guy supposedly behind the worst attacks on American soil and not only is he not caught, but he's not even MENTIONED anymore.
Wow.

| 14. Bingo! If they had him, or thought they could get him, they'd |
|
be talking about him. Right wingers on the radio, in the papers, on tv and in Washington don't seem to have much to say about Bin Laden.

The Bushistas have let OBL have a free pass. If the Repugs get OBL and destroy Al-Qaedia then it makes it harder to justify Iraq and other future military adventures.

| 18. That man can't find his ass with two hands, |
|
no way can he find OBL in hostile terrain. Pure speculation of course. I have to say though I appreciated Musharrafs' answers to Paula Zahn indicating that the war in Iraq has made the world more dangerous, he looked like he was lying when she asked about catching OBL. He blinked twice immediately....looked like a lie to me. Anyway....
