| Why isn't Kerry talking about the gas prices? |
|
Gas in my area has gone up .11 since last Wednesday ($2.10). The only reason I can think of is he doesn't have a good plan. I can't blame him I wouldn't know what to do either. But he needs to hammer at this and maybe say the reason gas prices are up is because bush's war has scared the market and we are now paying for Bush's mistake. Oh yes and the Dow is about to go under 10,000.

| 2. Because they will say it is due to the storms and not the war |

What Kerry should be talking about besides Iraq and the economy is a bankrupt energy policy that bush has done nothing about for four years

* finally announced last week that he will open the Strategic Reserve just in time to bring gas prices down for the election. The repeated hurricanes have stalled drilling in the Gulf of Mexico and it has finally occurred to Chimpy that if we do not use the Strategic Reserve at such a time, there is no point in having a Strategic Reserve.
There is no use playing right into the GOP market manipulation. Let's keep our eyes on the long term. Kerry will be more effective in office where he can actually DO something about gas prices, rather than in making speeches in advance promising this or that and then being undermined by the GOP market playing.

to Edwards' ear... http://blog.johnkerry.com/blog/archives/002968.html#002968
“When it comes to Iraq, this President has broken every promise he made and we learned about another one just in the last 24 hours. Oil prices have now broken $50 a barrel--the highest point in history. Before the war, the Bush Administration was predicting that oil prices would be $27 a barrel at this point, but they are actually almost twice that. One central reason for these high prices is this Administration's mismanagement of Iraq and the sabotage of Iraqi oil pipelines. Meanwhile, as your gas prices go up, the oil companies’ profits go up. It’s time for a new set of priorities where the needs of everyday Americans come first, and that’s why we need John Kerry in the White House"

| 7. Kerry and Edwards should use a specific example like this one: |
|
I intentionally memorized the price of gas at my nearest station in Las Vegas one day before the Iraq war. It was $1.29. As of yesterday, $2.01. That is a 56% increase. A 15 gallon tank that is filled once a week now costs $562 more per year, for the same product and amount.
That's an irrelevant joke for Bush's chauffered base, but a huge percentage of his tax cut for most of us. I have no idea why Kerry doesn't emphasize real world examples like that. I guarantee the debate watching crowd who will gather in my living room on Thursday would be much more influenced by that than some elongated policy nonsense regarding a Muslim country they can't locate on a map.
