| Are There Powers in the Repub Party that are Going to Blow It Apart?? |
|
During the Repub Convention there was a hotel room where those wanting to run for President in 2008 came, met with party officials and put out their case for consideration. There were around 10-12 names on the list who came. I remember Gulliani, Pataki, McCain, Chuck Hagel were on the list. I also remember Frist.
Pundits pointed out that the Gullians, Pataki, McCain, Hagel crowd might as well "forgetaboutit" because they would not (their words) make it "past Iowa". They said that there was a stranglehold of ultra-right wing fundies in the Midwest that have a death hold on this party; thus, only people like Frist will be acceptable and get past those primaries.
Right now all have to show loyalty by kissing Bush's ring; but after the election, I look for this first group to start making problems for the ultra-right faction. These are powerful men who want the big prize and to get it, they have to destroy the lunatic fringe. Thus, (god forbid), if Bush is elected I don't think things will go as swimmingly for him as his first term. I think he's going to have revolts within his own party and not a great deal of cooperation on his agenda. Of course, I also expect Bush to turn on his 'base' and go for stem cell research, raise taxes to pay off the mess he's made, etc. It should be interesting. And, of course, if Bush loses, then the internal wars will immediately begin (I like the sound of that).

| 1. The deficit hawks have been muffled |

so that Frat Boy can spend his little heart out...remember, he never had a real job.
So after the election, watch for them to cause a stink. They cannot cut enough out of the budget to make a difference, therefore tax hikes may be in the future.

of the U.S., they will turn on each other, using the same vicious techniques that they used on us. They will cease to be the "Coalition of the Criminals".

They wouldn't be able to fight the establishment candidate. Look what the Chimp did to McCain in 2000.
