Of course they spin it that Bush is "eroding" Kerry's lead. Only a repuke paper like the Trib could find that type of silver lining in a poll where the incumbent president is just getting 40% of the vote.

What are the breakdowns from the different areas of IL? I would guess Chicago is farther towards Kerry than downstate.

Kerry leads in Chicago and its suburbs but downstate the poll says Bush leads 51-40.
