WTF is that all about? Fuck Malloy. He's a blowhard that likes to hear the sound of his own voice a little too much. I wouldn't mind if he ended up unemployed again. Idiot

But I will say that it is mostly American christians that make me want to vomit. The Orthodox people I met in Russia are much more human, and much more spiritually consistent.
Either way, it's all fantasy land to me. I just find one group less annoying than the other.

Not all Christians are "religious nutcakes." Am I misreading you, or is that indeed what you meant to imply?
The "Christians for Kerry" who have a prayer group running for him aren't nutcakes. The mostly liberal ELCA Lutherans that I go to church with (and who surprised me in Bush Country by being mostly supportive of me and my button) aren't religious nutcakes.
As a sidenote: I spent alot of years learning that one didn't have to follow the likes of Pat Robertson to be a Christian. I used to think I was somehow less of a Christian because I couldn't be like they were. I will not be lumped in with those people. Most of them make my teeth itch.
So, for me, could you possibly amend your statement to read "Religious Right folk," friend. I'd appreciate it.

Democrat ugly ain't any prettier than Republican ugly.
Eh, whatever. When I was the "token theist" over at alt.atheism on Usenet, I ran into this attitude alot. Some atheists are tolerant, but many are not. Some are recovering fundamentalists so I understood, but several of them reflected the extremism they claimed to hate in the theists. They were a mirror, a perfect copy in reverse.
I was respectful so I was considered okay as I hung out there. They were mostly Democrat, so I was relatively comfortable. But I could never get them to understand that name-calling and such things maked them look as unreasonable as the theists they hated.
My mother, not an atheist or a fundamentalist, used to call Kohmeni "Ka-ka-meni" and Sadaam "Sadaam Insane." I thought it made her sound unintelligent and immature. I still think that, no matter who does it.

Born Again Christians don't consider Catholics Christian. That is the truth. I was raised Catholic and I used to correct my father when he would occasionally refer to himself as Christian because I didn't want him confused with the wackjobs who call themselves Christians. I told him to call himself "Roman Catholic" to be a the safe side.I don't suppose all Christians are like that, but I do know that the "born agains" who have high jacked Christianity don't recognize Catholics as Christian and don't consider them "saved"! They also have a problem with mainstream Protestantism, i.e.. Lutheran ,Presbyterianism.Anglican, Baptist, Methodist. I guess you have to accept Christ "their" way or you are evil! LOL!

They HAVE hijacked your religion. THEY are the face of Christianity in today's Amerika! And ONLY other Christians, the enlightened (and so far quiet and invisible) ones can do it.
I'm a non-believer, so most Christians aren't gonna listen to me, or Mike for that matter!

I mean the religious right has used shame and intimidation to rise to power and become the public face of Christianity. Who on the liberal side, the Christ-Like side, of Christianity can lead the way?
Is there a new Martin Luther King? Who has the agreed upon moral authority for such a task?
I really would like to know. Because it is the Christian Right, that is taking this country down. Without them, the rePublican Party would be finished.

If he didn't make that clear tonight, he has in the past. He said that he wished Jesus could come down and take care of the fundamentalists who disgrace Christianity. Mike Malloy is sort of the Ann Coulter of our side, except that he doesn't lie. Most of the stuff he says can be fact-checked with Google, or sometimes he even tells you where it comes from. He reads DU and talks about it on the show too. I don't know if he posts on here, but maybe he will clarify what he meant. He's not for everyone, however listening to his show can be cathartic.

"CHRISTIANS". "Christians" are those who follow the teachings of Jesus, or at least try hard to. "CHRISTIANS" are the sort who vocally proclaim that they alone have been SAVED and that everyone else on the planet is doomed to burn in a lake of fire for all eternity; they got this special status by saying the secret code words "I accept Jesus Christ as my personal savior". These two groups have nothing in common that I can see.
