| 1. It would be even better if we could get something broader |
|
I'm not at all a gloom and doomer, but I do worry about the effect the polls may have. Namely: (1) people who have given up and won't vote; and (2) people who like to jump on what they believe is a winning bandwagon.
I'm going to keep fighting every day, but it would still be nice if someone had something solid to debunk this kind of thing.

There is no way in hell Bush is going to get re-elected voter registration for democrats is crazy high, these are people that have never voted before (hence the likely voter polls you have been seeing)
To contrast that republican voter registration is not that great.on top of that people that were registered in 2000 that did not vote are not going to make that same mistake, bush is gone!! and its going to be a land slide!!,all the news networks are gonna be shocked!

| 9. This is why BushCo is frantically throwing everything including |
|
the kitchen sink at Kerry. They are desparate, despite the polls which gives them little comfort. Bush's handlers know that he has alienated a good part of his base, many of whom made his 2000 bid possible. Smirk now has to hope to get enough of the swing vote to compensate for this mass defection. They also know the democrats are going to have a huge turnout this election because of what happened in 2000 and AFTER. Throw in massive new democratic registrations and BushCo is in deep trouble, despite what the polls say. And they know it.
If Kerry gives a good account of himself, and makes a strong case for his candidacy in the debates, Bush is toast. People want a change.

| 6. I tortured myself with CNN today |
|
I know, stupid me. I work nights so I'm up at noon. I have my TV set to go off as an alarm. I wake up to Judy Woodruff announcing the latest CNN/Gallup poll with a 'resounding' or whatever she said, lead for Shit-for-Brains. In my half awake daze, this feeling of resignation washed over me. As I fixed my coffee I started thinking that maybe all this volunteering I'm doing for the party is a waste of time. He's going to win anyway. What were we thinking? That we could take the right wing corporate juggernaut and it's media whores with a few phone calls and voter registration drives? It took me a few hours to shake off the feeling. Coming on this site this evening really helped put it back into perpective. It just goes to show how fucking manipulative they are. We have GOT to get our country back! So I'm going to keep keeping on. I've decided that whatever happens, it's not going to happen because I sat on my ass and let it. I'm gonna fight to the end.

| 10. I was the opposite today. |
|
I went out and canvassed my precinct today and was able to register a 3 voters and a Spanish speaking person offered to help at the polls with translating! Then I come home and get on DU and watch TV and everyone is freaking out about polls and everything else. It's calmed down a little now. It's been a bipolar day politically speaking for me today!
