State Democrats dissolve Mobile chapter

WASHINGTON — The Alabama Democratic Party's governing board has voted to disband the party's Mobile County chapter, the state organization's executive director, Jim Spearman, confirmed Wednesday.

The action, which one local Democrat said could provoke a lawsuit, was taken because of "ongoing problems," Spearman said, such as the local chapter's failing to attract the minimum number of members needed to do business at its meetings. "We'll be reconstituting it," he said.
