Do you think they should put Saban's statue up now, or wait until he retires?

1. I would prefer to wait

But Mal seems hell-bent on full-speed-ahead. I won't bitch about it, but it would be pretty embarrassing to the University in the unlikely event that they put up the statue, then the coached bolted. I really think Coach Saban will be here for the balance of his career, but you never really know for sure. I say wait for retirement, but I don't feel really have strong feelings about it.

2. The spot is empty and waiting.

Plus Saban likes adulation so a statue would make him ever more excited about staying. Maybe he will get a road named after him. They can rename campus drive Saban Avenue, or the road that runs right up to the from of the stadium. Ive had classes in Ten Hoor which is on that road but can never remember the name. But, a statue now with 2009 under it for people to pose with and visitors to tremble at makes perfect sense. Plus I'm going back for a visit when the expansion is done and would love to take a picture with Saban (the statue).

3. Yeah, I think that the statue should go up now.

The statues are not for the coaches, per se, but as commemorations and acknowledgments of the Championships. I say put it up; and there should be a notch cut into the base of each of the statues for each championship won. That would give Saban some extra incentive and the players could come and say, "That second notch, there, that's my notch." I think it would be cool - because you know there will be many more championships!
