| anyone know anything about congressional candidate Terri Sewell? |
|
I don't really know anything about her, but I'm leaning toward the idea that she may be the best candidate from the sorry lot that seek to represent the seventh district.
It may be unfair to Earl Hilliard Jr., but the fruit rarely falls far from the tree. His father is notoriously anti-Jew and buddy-buddy with Libyan dictator Muammar al-Gaddafi. Without evidence to the contrary, I must suspect that he may hold similar views.
Sheila Smoot I don't care for at all. Even when she worked as a reporter for channel 13 in Birmingham, it was clear she was a bitter, hateful person, that despises white people in general. She's just awful.
I had never heard of Terri Sewell until just recently when her ads began popping up on TV. She seems kind of appealing, at least in contrast to Hilliard and Smoot.
Likewise, I had never heard of Martha Bozeman either. Judging from her name, I had assumed that she was a white woman, tilting at windmills, in this overwhelmingly black district. I just visited her website briefly, and it turns out Martha Bozeman is a black lady.
Disqualifying Smoot and Hilliard from my consideration, on principle, I'm going to try to pick the best candidate between Sewell and Bozeman.
Anyone have any thoughts on the candidates?

Terri Sewell has an interesting background, is from the district and is smart. The way her campaign is being run shows that she's disciplined and works hard. I got to meet her and she is fantastic. She'll be the only one who will be able to beat Smoot and Hilliard.

| 3. that says she would be the first African-American woman elected to Congress from Alabama |
|
Wouldn't she be the first woman, period, elected to congress from Alabama? I think a woman or two has represented Alabama in the House, but weren't they appointed, rather than elected?
Anyway, she sounds like a good candidate. I'm going to choose between her and Martha Bozeman. Either Smoot or Hilliard will probably win, based on name recognition. Unfortunately, they both suck.

Sewell has a LOT more money than either Hilliard or Smoot, while also relying a lot less on PACs. I'm really surprised by that.
