the trouble with the Dems in Phoenix is....

they are disorganized, ever try to volunteer? Good luck! Those who want to volunteer get a run around, then when they do have the opportunity to volunteer, well, the volunteers stand around just waiting for someone to give them something to do. Then the instructions are half ass.

If the Democrats ever want to win in Arizona they need to reach out to people, be sincere and organized.

An example, I called the Phx Dem headquarters late spring of '04 informing them I was interested in volunteering. I was put on hold, sent through mailboxes, requested to leave my phone number and would be called back. Sure. All total I contacted the Dem headquarters at least five times Finally talked to someone and gave them my information. The response was a nasty tone of voice saying that if I wanted to help I needed to come downtown. Excuse me? You want me to drive to downtown Phoenix? I don't think so, sorry guys there were many satellite offices out there, this was not mentioned to me.

I volunteered at a Kerry function, nothing but chaos. The Dems sure do need to get it together.

At any rate I felt the Dem party did not want me and this is not the first and I am not the only person.

Where is the calendar of events, there are breakfasts on Saturdays in areas of Phoenix and the outskirts, but, how do we know when they occur and where, there are meetings in areas, but when and where? You want support then communicate.

We really have been lazy in a lot of areas during the last fifteen years. We've let the Repukes take the media, the voting machines, and all branches of the federal government. We need to start taking it back.

You might want to consider joining Democracy for America, Howard Dean's grassroots group. If there's no chapter in Phoenix then you can consider starting one. They seem to be much more organized and committed than the Democratic Party itself.

But Jim Pederson has pledged that no volunteers will be ignored or treated as they have been again. I am one of the cheif bitchers about this. We truly are getting better. 7. Weather here in Phoenix is great!

If one works in the summer, you dress cool, shorts, tank top, hats, sunglasses, deodorant, and sun block, always have water on hand, in the car and person. I have a lambswool cover on my steering wheel, cover things in my car with a towel, no problem. The only difficult part of the summer in Phoenix is getting in your car after it has been in the uncovered parking lots for sometime.
Thank God for air conditioning.

I would rather do the above as I don't like to shovel snow or drive in the snow.

4. Sorry you had a bad experience.

Our field office in Mesa was extremely well-organized and staffed by very sharp college students. They had to keep increasing their office space because of so many people volunteering.

5. I was called by a Kerry staffer just before the primaries and did some

phonebanking one night. now that I think about it, for about an hour I was the only one calling people to get them to Kerry rallies in Arizona-- or downtown phoenix, at least. That was pretty cool.

The other time I volunteered, I went downtown myself-- I don't live too far from there anyway-- and went to where the little place Gordon ran his campaign office out of, but found the place a little messy, and some bitchy woman in front gave me no help and a little scorn. eventually found where I had to go though, was one of maybe two young people phonebanking with a dozen or so whitehairs. that was cool though, proved to me that not all senior citizens in Arizona are crabby, bitter Republicans.

It's easy to complain...they were all volunteers.

And the party is what we make it....I would say try again.

Only keep trying...maybe they need your help to get them organized?
