| Bill Clinton book tour to be in LA 6/25/04 |
|
I just found out that BigDog will be in LA on 6/25 for a book signing.
Brentanos Book Store 10250 Santa Monica Blvd 310-785-0204 5:00 p.m.
I'm in Tucson and will be flying in that day and will go. Am wondering if anyone is planning on going?

to find out what time people would be allowed to start lining up, and was told 6AM. I don't how many people will be allowed in, but I hope it's handled better than Hillary's signing last year at Vrooman's in Pasadena. There, people in line were allowed to buy two books each and only the first 250 people to show were even let in. Many were turned away. I thought I had a decent shot at first, but so many people in front of me had saved places for their friends that I missed the cut-off - even though I arrived at dawn for the noon signing.

| 3. I'll go.....but I'll plan on arriving at 2am |
|
I arrived incredibly early for Hillary's in Pasadena and barely made the cut after 7 hours in line because people in front were allowed to let their late friends in. I'll call the store too and urge them to hand out numbers to those who actually ARRIVE first rather than allowing only those IN LINE to go in. I was really upset at all the people who cut in line that morning and I had a 2 hour drive to begin with. I'll just leave here at midnight this time. Sorry you missed out on Hillary's signing. It was worth it to me to see her in person.

| 4. oh man. my plane doesn't even get into OC until 9:30am. |
|
by the time i p/u my bags, check in, and drive there, it won't be until 11:30. i bet there will be tons of people with you at 2am waiting too. damn. i doubt i'll be able to get in then. i'm sure there will be more hoopla with bill's book than with hillary's. i don't care. i'm still going to show up there and press my luck.
btw, how cool that you got through on hillary's book signing. what did you do for 7 hrs in line? whewwwwwww. that's a loooong time. i've never waited 7 hrs for anything in my life.

I'm thinking I should even drive down the night before, get a motel room, nap until 10pm and THEN head over to the area. It's been hyped so much on the news lately here and they're only taking the first 1,000 people; one book apiece. I'm wondering if I can even make THAT cut....even though the bookstore told me they aren't even allowing people to line up until 6am. Yikes! Will the police arrest anyone "resting" in their car nearby? Lots of logistics to work out. I have never waited that long in line for anything in my life (Hillary's book signing).....not even for Dylan tickets. The longest I waited was about 4 hours to get tickets to "The Last Waltz" many moons ago. But, that was SO worth it. :) Only around 5,000 of us allowed into that one. And I never even made it into the movie. Hahaha.
Big Dog should be worth a sleepless night and incredible discomfort. But I'm still really worried about details....parking etc. No purses; no cameras; hands visible at all times etc.....how will I eat, get to the the "amenities" and other details? But to see him in person....wow....it will be worth suffering. :bounce:
Can you imagine in your wildest dreams (nightmares) anyone lining up to see the Chimpy using his crayons to mark his "x" in a coloring book?:+
You should come anyway just to visit the line and chat....hell, I'd pay you to get me water and some food. Heh heh. Although I doubt "cuts" of any kind will be allowed this time, you'd meet some very interesting people.....I met GREAT people at the Hillary book signing. MO MATTER WHAT....it will be a "happening" of historic proportions.

| 12. Did you come by anyway? |

I sure hope you did. As far as I could tell, there were lots of people who arrived later who also got tickets issued towards the back of the line...up to 2,000 and the last I heard, he was willing to sign at least up to 1,500. There were people arriving as late as 5pm.....the actual beginning time set for him to arrive. They were a bit shocked to learn we had already been there since the wee hours. But they went to the back of the line anyway and I don't know how many actually got in. Needless to say, there was barely any news media coverage....the L.A. Times didn't even see fit to put much in there and had no pictures. The net had just a couple of pics from the very beginning of when he started to sign books for the people allowed priority admission...people in wheelchairs...I thought that was perfectly fair and nice of Brentano's. I also found a couple of crowd pics but they were either towards the very front or around the corner towards the back of the next block. (I was at the first corner.) Wondering if you made it and if you got to speak to any of us in the line? There were some pretty terrific people lined up. :)
I understand there was a brief blurb on KCAL9 and I was in a teevee shot but I never got to see it. I saw a ton of people being interviewed by miscellaneous media but no actual coverage by the gnus media. Can't let the sheeples know just how popular our last elected President truly is. The love for Bill Clinton in that crowd was palpable and immense. He is SO missed by SO many. Saw every news media outlet you can think of at the scene....funny how their stuff ended up on the cutting room floor. (Fux "news" was even there...ugh.)
No matter what....just meeting such a great bunch of Liberals was worth all of it....and I got to spread the word about DU to many who had never even heard of it. I sure hope you got to at least "feel" the crowd at some point. Pure love for Bill and a day I will NEVER forget.

My office is on the next block. If I don't have any must do's Friday I will be there. Several of my fellow brokers are planning to bring lawn chair for the minimum 11 hour wait till the Big Dog arrives at 5pm. If I can get my book signed and see F9/11 that night would be great!! My cubemate bought his book today and is planning to have it signed Friday. I will have my copy by then as well! See ya there, P-B

I got to shake his hand and talk to him. I'm still recovering from the drive down, the wait in line, the drive back but SOOOOO glad I did it. If anyone is interested I'll share the details. :)
