2005 Annual Awards Press Release

On December 20th, 2005 the Patrick Henry Democratic Club announced the winners of its annual awards. The membership of the PHDC includes lawyers, doctors, professors, engineers, writers, performers, congressional candidates, candidates for the state legislature, members of the State Executive Board of the California Democratic Party and other leaders. The annual awards were based on merit. The PHDC membership spent months going through the entire voting records of all members of Congress and reviewed events, accomplishments and activities of members of Congress, World Leaders and others to pick the individuals and organizations who most deserved the awards.

The Winners are as follows:

Congressman of the Year: Dennis J. Kucinich
Congresswoman of the Year: Maxine Waters
Senator of the Year: Barbara Boxer
World Leader of the Year: Hugo Chavez
Villain of the Year (tie): George W. Bush, Wal*Mart
Patriot of the Year: Cindy Sheehan
Courage Under Fire Award: Ambassador Joe Wilson
Susan B. Anthony Award: Natasha Hull-Richter


All awards that were not presented last night will be personally presented or delivered to the winners.
