| A Bush Supporter Had the Kerry Campaign HQ in Oceanside evicted! |
|
Our Open House for this Saturday has been moved to 4868 Cardiff Drive Oceanside, CA 92057
Please call 760-757-4050 for directions.
Basically, a Bush supporter is having the campaign headquarters evicted from the shopping plaza. The following is a prepared statement released by the Byron For Congress campaign for tonight's evening news.
"Linh Vu and other members of her family run a small business, VIP Nails and Tanning Salon, in Oceanside. As members of the local Vietnamese-American community they have been concerned about how minority communities are often overlooked by candidates so she offered the use of large area of her salon to the local campaigns of Mike Byron for Congress and John Kerry for President, hoping to bring the spirit of her overlooked community into the political mainstream.
Late on Thursday afternoon, volunteers for Byron and Kerry were stunned to learn that they were being evicted by Lynn’s property manager. Earlier in the day a volunteer had approached the owner of a neighboring business asking them to post a flier for their upcoming open house, just two days away. The owner replied “I am a Bush supporter and this party is not going to happen” and said he would get the property manager to kick them out.
This morning Mike Byron went to the offices of Collier Intl. and spoke with Sally Thompson. At that meeting Ms. Thompson stated clearly that the office would have to vacated by next week. Shortly after that meeting, Linh received a different call at her nail salon. She was informed that the campaign must be out by tomorrow, the very day of the party. The property manager denied ever allowing for the extra week and said that the any party would be greeted by police.
After four weeks of preparation, large banners on the store front and fliers on more than half of the neighboring businesses, the campaign kick off… and indeed the entire office… must be relocated in less than 48 hours.
The event planned for Saturday has been relocated to the home of a supporter at 4868 Cardiff Dr. in Oceanside. Campaign volunteers are on the phones letting people know the new address. Others are preparing maps, carting materials, and doing those things that must be done when you make a big move. Come Monday they will be looking for a new home.
Mike Byron is grateful to Linh Vu and hopes that there are no negative repercussions for her or her business. He is very appreciative of the spirit of this community and their desire to ask questions and learn about the candidates."

If they think this will slow down Kerry supporters, they better think again. BS antics like this just makes people even more determined to kick Bush* back to the pig farm.

We have 48 hours to vacate. I leave for a week's vacation tomorrow and I am unable to help out. I really hope this hits the local San Diego evening news.
The main thing right now is that everyone who hoped to attend will get the word that the party has moved. Free food and drinks and a mariachi band :-) .

I'm new here and got to this post late. I was just wondering what happened?. I didn't see it in the news, but I wasn't looking for it either. I know Mike Turko gets on my last nerve, but has anyone considered getting him on this?. These people will stop at nothing. Seeing that this was in Oceanside it really doesn't surprise me.

If there aren't any other reasons for eviction it seems to me that they could sue the hell out of these fascist bastards. You know, by one of those "trial lawyers".

But the party is tomorrow and will carry on at this private residence.
The space was donated to us by this wonderful Viet Namese family, so we are not leasing it. I don't know legally how this works.
All the money sunk into phones, computer service, etc. This is a shame.

| 7. Depends on the lease ... |
|
The lease may specifically state what activities ARE and ARE NOT allowed on the property. But in general, I would say it's none of their business what a lessor does as long as it doesn't disturb adjoining businesses.

It all depends on Vu's lease. If she's allowed to sublet, then Vu should have told the property manager that if he attempts to evict the Kerry people, then he'll end up in jail.
If she is not allowed to sublet, then she's liable to be evicted herself.

But there could be something in her lease specifically saying she couldn't.
If there wasn't however, then the manager needs his clock cleaned, and should be sued by Ms Vu.

| 10. Technically , she's sharing her space |
|
I imagine the violation would be the standard "pursuit of business not covered in the lease" Any commercial lease has a line stating the "premises shall be used for _______________ , and no other activity without express permission of lessor" or similar words.
Clearly the dem activity is not related to the nail business.

Beyond that, freedom of speech doesn't exist.
