California voters are initially favorable toward two conflicting November ballot propositions governing the rules of primary elections, according to a new Field Poll.
Voters considered likely to cast ballots in the Nov. 2 election favor Proposition 62, a citizens initiative that would allow all voters to choose from among the candidates of all political parties in primary elections.
They also support Proposition 60, which was placed on the ballot by the Legislature to thwart Proposition 62.
At this point, voter awareness of both measures is very small. Sixteen percent of the likely voters said they had heard of Proposition 62 and 6 percent knew anything about Proposition 60.
