Jewish groups are protesting the use of San Francisco Unified School District property for a pro-Palestine conference this weekend that they claim supports "hate and genocide."
A group called Justice in Palestine Coalition is renting space at Horace Mann Middle School on Saturday from the district for a day-long conference. About 200 people are expected to attend the event, billed as "The Struggle for Palestine: 4th Anniversary of the Intifada," which will include panel discussions, workshops and cultural performances.
This week, S.F. Voice for Israel, along with Protest Warrior, have been alerting their supporters about the event by phone and e-mail and encouraging them to contact the Mayor's Office, the Board of Supervisors and school board commissioners to have the event shut down.

Superintendent Arlene Ackerman said the district was legally required to provide the use of its facilities for community use. Conference organizers have used Horace Mann before without any problems, according to the district, and have filed all the appropriate paperwork for this weekend's conference.
