So, my friend won't be 18 until about a week after the election. So he can't vote. But, he has expressed to me that if he did, be might have voted yes on 8. I didn't really press it or ask him why because we are really good friends...and I didn't want to start anything. So today at school I wore a shirt that states "Stop the Hate. Vote NO on 8" He saw it and told me that he would wear one like that. I asked him...didn't you say you would vote yes? He said ya. But he would still support the No campaign. He also mentioned that the Mormon church tried to get him to wear a "Protect Marriage" shirt...but he refused. Thought that was pretty funny.

1. So... he'd vote yes, but wear a no shirt? That makes no sense.

but I think he was saying he isn't going to support the Mormon church no matter what. And that he respects others thoughts. He isn't one of the...gays are evil so they shouldn't get married...types.

3. He sounds like he's questioning himself

Whatever he discovers, it makes sense that he'd be confused. straight, bi, or gay, hes having to deal with the reality that the dogma he's probably grown up listening to is all crap. His dogma said gays are flat out baaaad! but the reality is of course otherwise. GBLT people are just like other people. some are bad, some are good, most are in between :)
I wonder if he first said "yes" because he wasn't sure how YOU felt, and it's a safe thing to start out with, no on the unsure (in this case yes on 8). I think knowing that you don't like 8 for the right reasons, his mind is changing.
I dunno, that's my 2 cents anyway :)

4. Hopefully it would change his mind

I thought about that after I talked to him. That would be pretty cool. He did know that I was very against prop 8. lol. But...I was able to change my dad's mind. Maybe his will change as well.
