| Voting Problems...Scanning machine broken or full! |
|
I just went to vote this morning at 9:30am. When I went to insert my ballot, a woman standing at the voting machine said it wasn't scanning in ballots. Either the machine was full or it was broken. She said she would put our ballots in a bin in the voting machine and scan them in later when a new machine was dropped off. I asked if we could take our ballots with us and come back later and she said we couldn't. I called the election department and they're sending someone out to the polling place. Anyone else in San Francisco having voting problems?

Someone should be there watching to make sure the votes do get scanned.

We went back and found another voter standing around to watch. My bf is camping out at the polling place now. The machine only registered 616 votes. The odd thing is my bf has been voting in this precinct in the last 10 years and this has never happened!

Technicians finally arrived. Apparently, something was wrong with the memory on the scanner, so they had to zero out all the votes and scan all the ballots in again. We watched our batch of ballots go through, but they still have to do the rest. The tech said the optical scanners should count 1000 votes. We'll have to see if the machine stops counting at 616 votes again. I don't understand how they could send out a faulty scanner. This is an important election not only for our nation, but for our city and state as well. We have three very important city supervisor races going on, and approximately 32 city and state measures to vote for. I happen to live in a district where the corporate interests are attacking our progressive supervisor candidates. I can't tell you the number of mailers I've received slamming these progressive candidates. The woman passing out the "I voted" stickers joked that the stickers should really say "I think I voted." Next time, I'm voting early.

| 4. Are you in Chiris Daly's district? That sounds pretty shady. |
