Eliminating paid holidays saves money?
Edited on Tue Feb-10-09 04:57 PM by Cant trust em
How does eliminating two paid holidays save money? Whether people are at work or not, the state is going to pay their employees. Doesn't eliminating the holidays just create additional days of work?

Or is the plan to keep the holidays, but for them to now be unpaid?

2. think about it
you go to work; you hopefully do work

you don't go to work, you don't do any work

I rather have the state pay for people to do work rather than not to do work

here's the current list

New Year’s Day
January 1

Birthday of Martin Luther King, Jr.
January 21

Lincoln’s Birthday
February 12

Washington's Birthday
February 18

Cesar Chavez Day
March 31

Memorial Day
May 26

Independence Day
July 4

Labor Day
September 1

Columbus Day
October 13

Veterans Day
November 11

Thanksgiving Day (and the day after)
November 27 & 28

Christmas Day
December 25

FIVE paid holidays in the first three months? I get two of those

if they're going to get paid, do some work

3. That maintains productivity, but doesn't cut costs
If I get paid $1000 per week, that doesn't change if the week five days or four days. Sure, they're going to make people work five days, but that just means that they're getting more bang for the buck. Not necessarily saving that buck.

Maybe I'm missing something here.
