"The battle for equality has to be fought in places likes Fresno and not just in large liberal cities like San Francisco and Los Angeles. "
D-Day is decision day for the California Supreme Court on Proposition 8, and it could come as early this week.
Acts of Civil Disobedience and direct action are in the planning stages now in many cities large and small throughout California and even in other parts of the US. The Raging Grannies Action League will be on the streets.
The big historic civil rights cause of this century will not stop there, no matter what the California Supreme Court's decision is. Raging Grannies will join the rally for national LGBT equality the first Saturday AFTER the California Supreme Court issues its rulings on the Proposition 8 cases. With thousands of others we will meet on the steps of City Hall in downtown Fresno at 1:00 PM.
Why Fresno? The battle for equality has to be fought in places likes Fresno and not just in large liberal cities like San Francisco and Los Angeles. The citizenry of Fresno in California's Central Valley is far more reflective of national attitudes towards LBGT Equality.
And it is not just about Prop 8. To paraphrase Cleve Jones on the movement as we head forward, we will be on the streets and talking to Congress for all rights in all 50 states. Grannies do this for our LGBT friends and family members everywhere. We are building a truly national movement to build full equality.
Be a part of history! Join the movement for full equality! Check in to the website here for updates on the plan of action or contact the Grannies for more information.
