Fire Burns 6,000 Acres Between Fillmore, Moorpark
MOORPARK, Calif. (AP) ―
A fast-moving fire scorched 6,000 acres Tuesday in the rural hills of Ventura County between the cities of Moorpark and Fillmore.
More than 400 firefighters were dispatched and a DC-10 jumbo jet has joined eight air tankers and four helitankers battling the fire.
"We're fighting fire," county fire Capt. Bill Nash said. "It is being driven by the winds so we're working real hard to get ahead of it."
Evacuations have been ordered from:
- Balcom Canyon to Stockton and over to Broadway
- Happy Camp to Highway 126
- Bardsdale to Sespe and up to Riverside
