I'm not from Colorado, but wanted to ask you about your governor. I saw him on TV the other day and thought he seemed like the kind of person the GOP would like to run. Do you guys think he might run in '08? Does he have "skeletons" in his closet, or political vulnerabilities?

Let's put it this way ...
The Republicans, with Owens as their leader last year, just lost both houses of the state legislature - the first time that has happened in forty years. The Republicans also lost a US Senate and US House seat in Colorado.
The state budget has been a mess since he has been in office - seven years now.
And ... Mrs. Owens moved out of the Owens house last year. The Owens's are separated. They have never said why, although the most popular rumor is that Colorado's Mr. Family Values has a mistress and child residing somewhere in south Denver.
Owens is finished as a political figure for the forseeable future.

| 3. He does not have much of a political future. |

Like some of the above remarks were made. Two years ago, he looked like a rising star, and now though, once his term is up in 2006, he is done.

I feel better hearing that, actually. He came across as very "normal" if you know what I mean, although he was spouting familiar rightwing scripts.
Thanks for the info! :hi:
