Here are a few myths and facts about measure 3A.
The additional $25 million will not improve student performance or teacher retention, because DPS is severely mismanaged. See our blog (bottom of page) and pass the word. Join our discussion! Find out how DPS uses secret records and private policy making to violate the Civil Rights of teachers and undermine public education.
Myth: . Teachers support ProComp Fact: . Most teachers have questions about the execution of ProComp that have not been addressed
Myth: . Teachers get a 3% raise for hard to staff schools and subjects Fact: . Teachers get 3% of a pre-set, low, base - not their current pay
Myth: . DPS does not have the money to pay teachers well without ProComp Fact: . DPS has plenty of money. Denver has one of the highest per-student-cost districts in the nation. DPS increased its central administration four-fold five years ago and the quality of costly decision-making got worse - not better.
Myth: . ProComp will use objective goals to determine who gets increases in pay Fact: . The goal-making structure proposed by ProComp encourages an individualized, subjective framework -- not an organizational, objective one.
Myth: . ProComp would use existing procedures and cause very little increase in paperwork Fact: . ProComp is complex and admin-intensive, and would add another layer to teachers' full workload.
