| How's things on the Front Range? |
|
:hi:
I'm thinking about selling and moving back on your end of things. The Western Slope is wearing me down a bit ... and dang, but sometimes I miss a nice restaurant or twelve. :D
I know the snow's been less than peachy; how's the human climate? I've got my eye on maybe Golden.

Although the Ted Haggard thing was an interesting episode, I wouldn't recommend moving here for the entertainment value.

I'd like to try a decent restaurant or two myself, but first I need a job . . .
as for the weather, surely you've missed the worst of it for another decade or so . . .

As long as you have a good job and are not in foreclosure and like spending more time on the bus/light rail and like paying lots for water, gas and electricity and can duck the drive-by gunshots and avoid the road-ragers.

Even the job picture has improved greatly, at least in IT (my field), and for now.
And there are more restaurants all the time, good ones. The urban problems are the usual ones of growing population in an urban corridor.
The weekly snows are unusual and will never happen again in our lifetimes. Or else they're the new standard weather pattern. It's too soon to say.

but not in the city itself. Longmont's down quite a bit and Lafayette and Louisville are dropping, too. I assume, but can't verify that Jeffco is doing the same.
Roads are going to be in miserable shape for a while, though. Most of the older asphalt is breaking up thanks to this freeze and defrost cycle, and the potholes are getting out of hand. Since the counties are out of money for winter issues, this is going to get interesting.

Houses just aren't selling. Our neighbor now is trying to rent his place (in Lakewood) since he hasn't gotten a single offer in a year and a half. He now lives in a new place, so renting is probably a good alternative until the market turns around.
So, if you can sell in Aspen, you'd be in the catbird seat.
P.S. There's still a foot of snow in our yard. The humans are struggling with snow shovels over here!

housing prices are coming down, and probably will continue to do so, especially in some of the burbs. And if you're looking for a condo, there's a real glut of them here in Denver.
The economy in Denvoid is still in a recession, something our mayor finally admitted to a few months ago. Hopefully things will pick up by the time the Dem convention rolls into town, or else all the rest of the country will be seeing are empty storefronts and repossessed houses.
Why is the western slope getting old? I've thought about moving to the Grand Junction area for years now. Talk me out of it...
