Although this column usually highlights the lighter side of the arts and entertainment happenings in the region, it also features special programs that reflect the serious side of current events.

The scheduled execution of serial rapist and killer Michael Ross in a Somers prison has generated discussions about the morality of capital punishment and the legality of lethal injections.

Tonight, state Sen. Mary Ann Handley, D-Manchester; and state Reps. Ryan Barry, D-Manchester; Christopher Stone, D-East Hartford; and Jack Thompson, D-Manchester, host an open forum about the death penalty and invite you to join the debate during the question and answer period.
