| ACLU query regarding removing individuals from the voter rolls |
|
From an e-mail I just received:
Hi, We, the ACLU, are actively looking at Duval County's practice (Supervisor of Elections) of removing individuals from the voter rolls upon notice by the Clerk of Courts of a conviction.
Has anyone had any contact from anyone who has received a letter saying they have been removed? If not, could you spread the word amongst any contacts you have that we are interested in talking to such individuals.
Thanks.

I have never dealt with the ACLU, although I respect them very much, but I would have expected an official inquiry looking for purged voters to have an email that ended in @aclu.org or something, not a yahoo account. In fact, for some reason, I thought that an email account for an organization like this would be in violation of yahoo's rules. Again I have no proof of either of these things, but just to be on the safe side, before revealing any personal info, I would thoroughly investigate the matter.
Just my two cents.

I've been on their mailing list for at least a year. They have a yahoo group. Edit to add link http://groups.yahoo.com/group/ACLUjax
