ACLU query regarding removing individuals from the voter rolls

From an e-mail I just received:

Hi,
We, the ACLU, are actively looking at Duval County's practice
(Supervisor of Elections) of removing individuals from the voter
rolls upon notice by the Clerk of Courts of a conviction.

Has anyone had any contact from anyone who has received a letter
saying they have been removed? If not, could you spread the word
amongst any contacts you have that we are interested in talking to
such individuals.

1. are you sure this is legit?

I have never dealt with the ACLU, although I respect them very much, but I would have expected an official inquiry looking for purged voters to have an email that ended in @aclu.org or something, not a yahoo account. In fact, for some reason, I thought that an email account for an organization like this would be in violation of yahoo's rules. Again I have no proof of either of these things, but just to be on the safe side, before revealing any personal info, I would thoroughly investigate the matter.

I've been on their mailing list for at least a year. They have a yahoo group.
