| Where in Florida should I go to volunteer for election week? |
|
Going to take a week's vacation to go down and help with the campaign. Pretty much open to going anywhere in Florida. Any suggestions on which part of Florida where they will need the most help?

They need poll watchers on election day. they will definately have a use for you. I signed up and took the first orientation class, there will be another more intense class on Monday evening before the election in the precient you will be watching. I'm sure florida is a state that they are especially interested in watching. I'll be poll watching in Pontiac a blighted urban area in Michigan.

We are right in the middle of the critical I-4 corridor. There will be a poll watcher and counsel at each polling place. We will be monitoring who has voted so that we can call, encourage and pick-up those who haven't shown at the polls. Before the election there will be rigorous get out the vote efforts with much empahsis on early voting and absentee ballot collections or "chasing the ballots" as they say. Very grassroots stuff.
Florida headquarters is in Ft. Lauderdale. You could contact them directly. E-mail me if you want some numbers. I just don't have them with me now and when I go downstairs I will go to bed as I should have done an hour ago.
Thanks for coming. We really need your help. I am inspired by the number of volunteers who have come to help. The volunteer coordinator is a volunteer from MA who quit her job and left a husband behind, others visiting for a short time have helped, lots of young people who have come from out of state.
They inspire me to give as much time as I possibly can. I work with the campaign during the day while my daughter is in school and some evenings/weekend canvassing. Basically have put everything social aside as well as tennis and the gym. (Am trying to get some yoga pilates in morning at home) If my activity doesn't forward change, I likely won't do it.
