| Democratic friendly neighborhood in NE Atlanta? |
|
I currently live in the suburbs and hate it. Is there anywhere in the Atlanta area that is friendly to Democrats; or just a nice neighborhood?
I currently live in Suwanee. I would rather find a place closer to the perimeter(NE).

I grew up in Decatur. If you want a Liberal and friendly place, Decatur is the place. Great schools, great people.....high taxes.....but other than that it's got pretty much whatever you need.

We maintain pockets in parts of the youth that are strongly left-leaning (I saw an ACLU sticker the other day; have liberal friends).
We should build a wall around Atlanta and not allow the rabid Right in...

I live in SS.. mostly Republican, though I see an occasional Kerry for President sticker. I'd vote Decatur also, but this isn't the best metro area to be in if you're looking for progressives.. without awakening a serious percentage of the population, that is.

I would love to live in Decatur, but it might be a little far for my wife.

I cannot imagine it gets any more liberal anywhere in metro atlanta. I understand that our polling place @ Epworth church has the reputation as the most liberal precinct in the entire state of GA- Supposedly 95%+ for Kerry last time around.
Bring your checkbook, though, & I hope you like bungalows!

You need lot's of $$$$. That's why I live among the christian fascist's in Henry County. Nice house, nice neighborhood, nice price, but Bush 04 stickers on many SUV's around here.

I don't know first hand but I hear it's the only Cobb County area that is democratic.
I second Decatur, but if you're buying the property taxes are steep.
You might look in to Midtown ATL - very dem.
Also, check out Kirkwood area of ATL. It's up and coming and very dem.

Dunwoody and Decatur are nice. The taxes in the county are much less than being in the city of Decatur. I would say our taxes are reasonable for the schools and amenities.

Is very blue. I live in the Cascade Heights area. In my zip code there was only one donation to Bush in 2004. Our precinct is 98% Dem and very high voting percentage. Nice houses, big lots, low prices. We live in a sprawling ranch on 1.5 acres inside the perimeter and paid less than what a tiny bungalow goes for in Candler Park - where we used to live. It's a great area. Take a look :hi:
