Saturday Morning March Meetup Suggestions

Okay, I scored a guidebook yesterday. UFPJ says the staging area is between 3rd & 7th streets in front of the Capitol. Should we meet in front of & across from the Air & Space Museum on the NW corner of Jefferson Dr SW & 4th or below 7th in front of the Hirshorn Museum? Both are on the Mall.

If you have another suggestion, please let me know. I've only got a map to work with, so don't have any landmarks other than the museum buildings to give out.

1. Which space is larger?

Which of these spots is closer to the Metro stop?

Did Sharon say Elad was bringing us the DU banner to march with? We could use that as a marker for DUers to find us.

Since both places will be on the Mall itself (I doubt the museums will let us gather on their property, since they will be open for business that day), they look on the map to be wide open spaces. Being a tourist, I could be wrong. :dunce: But IIRC from September 2005, our meet up spot was on the Mall too & there was lots of space.

3. the museums don't have 'property'

they have simply their footprint on the national park that is the Mall. I wouldn't suggest a hundred people meeting on the front steps, mind you, but you'll be fine.

thank god I have to travel this weekend, I hate protest weekends in DC! please do remember, everyone, that you are here to protest and march, which is cool, but we have to live here and pay for the cleanup! it's our backyard, please take care of it. thanks.

4. I land at Reagan at 9:08am Saturday morning

7. You can take the Metro from National

Yellow line to L'Enfant Plaza, then blue line to Federal Center SW (presuming we meet at the corner of Jefferson & 4th). You COULD take the blue line from National, but it goes way out of the way before coming back into DC.

It looks like your idea of 4th and Jefferson Dr. SW would be closest to a stop. It's the Federal Center SW Station (I).
