Did they dump the Sports Junkies too? I haven't listened to them much since they moved from WJFK evenings, but do you know what happened to them?

I don't usually listen to them, as I have the sort of commute that requires books on tape. Was any warning given about this?

I grew up in the DC area listening to that station. When I was in high school, it was truly alternative. Then it became one of the first really successful alternative pop stations and actually made money. What happened while I was away? Losing money or something? Sigh.

I can't imagine life in the car around DC without HFS. Although, after Weasel left, well...it's a darn shame if this is true. I've listened to HFS for over 20 years.

...WHFS was the ONLY FM station worth listening to for rock music. Any one remember the guy who used to sing the news? That goes WAY back.... They were non-commercial in those days-- I presume the DJs worked for food.

I've lived in Florida for the last 10 years, but back in the late '80's and early '90's when I lived in Pasadena, MD, I loved that station. Thats when alternative music was stil alternative. I liked Aquaman at nights with his aqua phone. And yeah, the HFStival was awesome. I think it was in '92 when the Rollins Band played, it was awesome. Sad.

| 13. They actually talked about this on Howard Stern |
|
And they had a clip of the cutover. It was amazing, they were playing one of the HFS songs, cut to an announcer saying this is HFS, and then another announcer came on in Spanish. What a shock!
