I went for work and just got back. We went to the ceremony yesterday am and the ball last night. It was... interesting. The ceremony was a bit too long and not as well organized as it could have been. There was a poem read by a service man while the national guard band played that was a bit too freeperish for my taste... talked of the "cynics" that don't think that the goals of active service to the country of justice and freedom, etc. were worth pursuing or some such rot.
I thought Blagojevich's inaugural speech to be a good rundown of what he's accomplished to date and will be interested to see how he proposes to provide healthcare for everyone. Pat Quinn is just a great guy - his speech was moving and reached a sincerity level missing in the others.
Other than that, it was an interesting event to attend from a historical perspective if nothing else.
