| 1. Her sister just took Bill Hemmer to task for bringing it up |
|
Hemmer asked for a comment about Keyes comments and her sister told Hemmer that she couldn't belive he would even bring up the quote and say it on the air. Let's be clear. Keyes is a candidate for the senate and former Pres. candidate. He is your guy. And she can't even blast him to defend your sister against his brand of repukeism. Nice family bond they got going there.

| 2. did your notice Lynn Cheney sitting next to her? |
|
Mommy didn't seem too happy about the whole thing. Maybe every reporter will be asking the Cheneys what they think of Keyes and his statements. Instead of Lynn having a good time, every reporter will be asking about Keyes and his comments and that is not exactly pleasant? I understood Keyes was inited to address the RNC and he declined as he was there to drum up money. But then he is wasting timr talking to every reporter he can and putting his foor in his mouth almost every time. I love it, love it, love it. There is a devastating story in the Chicago Tribune about him today. The IL delegation to the RNC appears VERY down on him just for starters.

| 3. Here's 4 paragraphs of the Chicago Trib article |

(Again, I just love this stuff! I guess Keyes said the remarks to some radio station on Monday and then expanded on them Tuesday with the "this is a sin and pray" comments. Reporters have been asking GOP bigshots and Bush /Cheney campaign managers, what they think and all are basically giving the same "terse" response of his comments being "inappropriate" Barb) ----- Published September 1, 2004
"On Tuesday, Keyes defended his remarks, adding that if his daughter were a lesbian, he would tell her she was committing a sin and should pray.
Thus far, the Republican hopeful's week has been defined by friction with his state party chairwoman and the Illinois delegation, who feel they are playing second fiddle to Keyes' media campaign. Some have also expressed concerns about Keyes' beliefs, calling them too far right for Illinois.
Informed about Keyes' comments from the radio program, McCain said, "I don't think that's appropriate, but it's not the first inappropriate remark Mr. Keyes has made. He made a remark the other day that people who perform abortions are the same as terrorists. That's a very unique take on that issue and one that's very seldom espoused."
"Without social moderates this party cannot win," Topinka told a few reporters before she and Keyes shook hands for the cameras. "It has to be center-right, it can't be right-right."
