http://www.belleville.com/mld/belleville/news/local/10745750.htmLast-minute election petitions filed Tuesday delivered few surprises for St. Clair County voters looking to see who's running for office on April 5.
Incumbents filed for re-election in eight of 11 mayoral races throughout St. Clair County. Two of those incumbent mayors seeking re-election are running unopposed: Richard A. Sauget Jr. in Sauget and Charles "Chip" Gray in Swansea.
Actually, none of the incumbents is opposed in Swansea.
"No one filed period," Gray said. "The Swansea Good Government party is the only one there. I take it as we must be doing a good job, because if we weren't, someone would be out there."
Good article about Southwest Illinois elections. Some guy had all his petitions signed and then someone stole them from his locked car. That's pretty sad that no one is running in Swansea. Let's hope liberals are in power.
