Bush gets on Illinois ballot (sigh)...

Illinois lawmakers agreed Monday to grant President Bush an exception from the usual deadline for placing candidates' names on the fall election ballot. Illinois law requires the ballot to be finalized 67 days before the election. But Republicans are holding their convention unusually late this year, and Bush won't be officially nominated until 61 days before the election. Democrats and Republicans have been wrangling for weeks over granting an exception so Bush's name can appear on ballots this fall. Democrats originally tried to link the issue to some changes they wanted in state election law. The House voted 108-0 Monday for a bill limited just to the Bush deadline issue. There was no debate. The measure passed the Senate earlier and now goes to Gov. Blagojevich, who says he plans to sign it into law.

One will find that all bills are supposed to be on a single subject. Laws have been struck down several times in recent years because they combined subject areas.

10. Scam

This is typical politicking. The Dems did this so that the Repubs would go along with them when they pass legislation that forgives various politicians for fines they owe to the state.

And while the Democrats decided to change the law to allow Bush on the ballot, they are busy challenging the ballot petitions of any canidate to the left of Zell Miller - even when the Democrats aren't running a canidate! Why are the Democrats supporting Republicans?

This is even funnier in Champaign County where two Democrats filed their petitions incorrectly but were still allowed on the ballot.

Why is the Illinois Democratic Pary so opposed to democracy?

I'm kinda glad that they put him on the ballot.
a) what if dems are put in the same position sometime? it is the right thing to do
b) It takes away a political issue from the freeper media like Faux gnus
c) he will lose - BIG - anyway.
d) By being on the ballot, he has to spend money here, and that takes away from other campaigns.

so, this is actually good news.
