CR Gazette likens Molly Ivins to Ann Coulter

Damn I blew my email from RapidResponse away. One of the members received a reply from Mark Bowden of the Gazette saying that Ann Coulter is extreme right but Molly Ivins is extreme left-wing and no one complains about her.
If anyone feels like telling Mr. Bowden the difference here is a contact address:

Our paper, the Casper Star Tribune in Casper, WY, is owned by Lee Enterprises -- which I think is based somewhere in Iowa -- and shortly after Lee bought them, the paper has run Molly Ivins and Ann Coulter on Fridays saying they were a good balance to each other.

I work for a the Editorial Dept. of a Lee paper in Iowa and we run Ivins twice weekly along with Ellen Goodman and Leonard Pitts a couple times a week. Recently, a bunch of readers have written in saying we need to balance Ivins with Ann Coulter but we run one Krauthammer a week for conservative readers.

We don't get Krauthammer but the right tilt of Lee has been evident ever since they purchased the Star-Tribune which (actually correctly) had the reputation of being a really liberal paper in this very conservative state.

As you can imagine, I miss my old newspaper.

6. I remember another comparison

I remember in 1950s South Carolina, people would say that the Ku Klux Klan was bad, but also that Martin Luther King was bad in the other direction. This is a stupid thing to say, but people were saying it then - perhaps as a way to ignore what MLK was trying to tell them.

It sounds like someone is looking for an excuse to ignore Molly Ivins.
