| Before they leave the state - A hand for the lowly staffers |
|
I would like to take a moment to commend the staffers for the various campaigns. The ones we have interacted with have been just super people. For the most part they are young and seemingly tireless. They have a dedication not only to their candidate but also to the Democratic Party. All that I have spoken to put winning the general first and all have said they will work for whoever the nominee is. So my hat off to you guys - Carrianna, Sarah, Nate, Graham, Nick, Henry, Chris, Justin (watch this guy - he's a terrific speaker), Chris B., Al, Lennon, Craig, Simeon, Steve and all the others who have given their all in an attempt to convince us Iowans that their candidate is just what the country needs. What the country needs is more young people like these hardy souls. They came to us from Cleveland and Hartford and Dayton, Seattle, Detroit, west Texas and a few from right here. Thank you. It was fun getting to know you.
Sincerely, Rurallib.

I'd like to add my thanks to some more of the Edwards staff: Everett, Silas, Ali, Elise, Jackie, and all the rest around the state. Debi, just an FYI I've got 9 hours of calling (plus a short lunch break) on Thursday, then my caucus, and hopefully a campaign celebration. Tell Mr. Debi I'm looking forward to his blogs Thursday night. I'm totally excited to caucus, and I hope that we perform well, and maybe pull out a victory.

Also a big hand for all the volunteers for the various campaigns (I myself being a volunteer for the Edwards campaign). It's tedious work, but we do it for a good reason. Thank you for thanking the staff and volunteers.

I just wanted to recognize the younguns who have moved from all over America to work for their ideals and who will then move on to some other spot. We have had a chance here to get to know them unlike anyone else will. And for the most part these are the folks who will help shape the future. These kids are sacrificing a lot to do this, friends, families and holidays. Believe me I appreciate the volunteers. I volunteer myself. But most of us return to our permanent bed each day.

| 8. The worst part is saying good-bye to friends |
|
And, with a campaign that has gone this long, they really do become friends. Although I've told many personally, I'll say it here publicly as well -- I'm impressed and have been impressed for months. Their energy has been boundless and has helped shine a favorable light on our state and the Democratic process. I wish for them, as they leave here, nothing but happiness, health and wealth.

And a sincere thank you! I can't imagine there are too many people that get excited about spending months away from home, trying to convince people to support someone they may despise, all leading up to a colder than cold night in January trying to herd Democrats into rooms all over Iowa...
But those of you that did come, thank you, thank you, thank you!

| 12. I just spoke with the Edwards' Lennon |
|
about 4:00 this afternoon and thanked him. Told him I'd seen his name on DU Iowa forum, so if you stop by later, Lennon, thanks again so much for all your hard work.
