| Meetup at evlbstrd's house - planning thread & Helen Thomas reminder |
|
We've got one week until we descend on evlbstrd's house for our monthly DU meetup. Coincidentally (or not! :eyes:) next Friday is also St. Patrick's day. :woohoo:
We talked about a potluck. So who's in and who's bringing what? Let's start planning.
I'm thinking brownies. Good old-fashioned brownies.
Also, Helen Thomas is speaking on Tuesday, March 14th at Woodruff Auditorium in the Kansas Union in Lawrence. No tickets are required and the start time is listed as 7:30 p.m. The offer to drop by my house (talk, have a beer, gossip) and then head up to the Union en masse for the lecture/appearance is still open (I know I still need to send directions to atommom). If you'd like to join us, drop me a PM.

and thinking of the last batch of brownies I had, they were "special" brownies. wink wink- nudge nudge
I love brownies but I am not even certain I am going to get there yet, I really had no reason to comment, just being silly.

Thanks for the link.

or was getting ready to go, when Vern showed up on "60 Minutes" jumping out of a trunk at 12th & Oread. My parents were aghast and all worried about what had happened to Lawrence. Then one of my other brothers asked them about some of my dad's artist friends and their funny cigarettes.

that is supposed to last till 6:00 but I can sneak out early if I need to. So say between 6:30 and 7:00? Is that too late? I could skip my meeting all together if necessary.
Oh and I need to find out if evl wants to come. And my friend Johnalita might come too. Have you met her?
I also have a couple kids here I might bring and leave at your house :) I am thinking of renting a van. Maybe I will pick up some homeless people downtown as I leave town.

Everytime I have gone to evl's house, his dog barks at me - about 20 minutes AFTER I arrive. Hell, in that time I could have stolen everything in his house worth taking. LOL
So I don't think the dog has the socks. :)

Told them that the meetup was at evl's house and they are really interested in meeting everyone. BTW, guess what profession they are? Teachers. Why can't I get away from the teachers?!? What is about my karma that I am surrounded by teachers? Anyway, they may come. Don't worry, they are more "normal" than most of my friends.
on edit: speaking of parties, I'm not going to be around much today. Got a lot of my family in town and I've been getting phone calls from friends of ours (and theirs) about the Big XII tournament today. Apparently, while I was at the party last night, it was decided that my house would be the location of a tournament watching party. I'm heading out to stock up on chips, dip, hamburgers, hotdogs, buns, etc. in anticipation of anywhere from 10 to 17 people watching games at my house today.
Senility, here I come.
