that IF they renew us, we will have a hurricane deductible of 5% of value of house. Also, did not give any assurances of no increase of premiums. Anyone else receive notice of changes in coverage?

NO INSURANCE COMPANIES are writing new policies in New Orleans, EXCEPT of course Louisiana Citizens. I've heard of insurance costing between 4-5K a year with them. IMO, you're better off staying with your same company. Hopefully the insurance climate will get better b/c this could be the biggest hinderance in the recovery process once it's all said and done.
on edit: i'll post here when we get word from STATE FARM as to our future policy. We're suing them so they might not be too happy with us now.

Homeowners went up a little less than 30 percent. It was around 1300 and now is about 1800. We had the claim from katrina wind and then another for burglary shortly after moving back in.

Later I received another notice that op was in error; that my coverage would not cover wind and hail damage. When we talked to our agent, he amended that to except coverage for named storms and hail damage. We have to get additional coverage from state.

Plus, our prem. went down by only $20.00. We are looking for another policy. Too bad, we loved Allstate, even though we felt our prem. was too high.
