| Anybody from here try to call the local talk shows? |
|
I may be wasting my breath. But in a state that put so many Democrats in office over the past few years there's bound to be SOMEBODY besides the mouth-breathers listening to the AM talk shows.
I've made a habit lately of bugging Ed Buggs. He hung up on me today . . . and began whining. I called to explain to him that Kerry would win the election because Americans finally want to hold somebody accountable for Bush's failures and that person will be none other than Bush.
Of course, he had to let me go . . .

| 2. Louisiana. We have two Dem senators and a Dem governer. |
|
However, a recent poll had Bu$h leading Kerry in double digits.

| 8. You know who lost all credibility with me? |
|
David Tyree, WWL (NOLA) after limbaugh. Used to portray himself as a middle of the road type, but jumped on the warwagon and never looked back. I've called in, but the last time I actually tuned him in was the day they found that bunker full of pesticide barrels in iraq last year. He was so sure that we had the smoking gun.... "don't you people that oppose the war have egg all over your face? you won't even admit you were wrong." That was the last straw for me. What a smarmy prick. Ptooey.

| 10. i used to somewhat buy into his portrayal of himself as a moderate |
|
but since 9/11 he's gone so far to the right, it's scary. I get upset when i hear someone call in with an opinion other than his. He'll never hear them out. Talk about not admitting when you're wrong!
I've heard that he's a log cabin republican. Are y'all familiar with these people? Look them up..

Shortly before the 2000 election he went on his morning show on WJBO and said Gore peddled his vote for or against Gulf War I on the basis of whether or not he'd get a primetime spot for a speech. This has been discredited in many places. I couldn't get on the show to say so, but I sent him an email with a link to an article that said only Alan Simpson and Bob Dole said this. Everyone else, many Republicans included, said their story was malarky.
Tyree replied saying, "I read it and I stand by what I said."

| 17. to be fair about David Tyree... |
|
I agree, I'm very disappointed in him with his current "perspective". Very.
Still, to be fair - folks should know that waaaaaay back in the early years of the HIV/AIDS crisis, he volunteered and manned a shift on the only HIV Hotline in NOLA - week-in, week-out. And he manned the phones during the week that Magic Johnson made the announcement that he was/is HIV positive - when the lines were completely flooded with people scared out of their minds. At the time, there was precious little HIV education available, and the Hotline truly was the primary information source for people with no information and nowhere to turn. During that time, David delivered on that information, and his voice anonymously informed and aided alot of folks.
I hope that David can wake up and return to spreading critical, accurate messages - and the FACTS - as he did back then.

obnoxiousdrunk, Wolfe was fired because of some inflammatory comments he made about Ochsner, one of the advertisers on WJBO.
I would like to say that WJBO has one redeeming quality... the morning show with Kevin Meeks and Matt Kennedy is usually worth a listen... Kevin is pretty a pretty progressive thinker, and truly a reasonable guy. Matt is a righty, but he is honest enough to concede on some points and has actually changed his mind on some issues during the show. The rest of the day the station serves as a typical right wing media outlet though.
Does anyone here remember the details of Ed Buggs shady past (involving prostitutes and cocaine)? I can't seem to find any of the articles online, but I remember when he got busted partaking in both... now he's spouting off on morality. Funny stuff.
