rising fuel prices causing major problems for truckers

friends of ours are x-country drivers for a large trucking firm. they have has their governors turned back to 62 mph. their company sent them a message(all these trucks have in house message centers now) that a thousand trucking companies have folded so far because of fuel costs.
What happens to states like Maine who depend on truckers to supply our needs?
Some to think about in the near future. plant an extra row in the garden. can or freeze
extra for that family member or neighbor who has no garden.
