he loses head to head matchups. People personally like this guy, but partisan voting patterns will make it very hard for him to win.

are always important. But remember, 80 percent of independents aren't really independents. Its just their registration status. Most independents have partisan voting behavior. The most important factor in Maryland is to hold on to the moderate Dems who live in places like Baltimore County and Howard County.

the type of voters I think Mfume would struggle most with. Just another reason why I will be supporting Cardin.

6. Here in Howard County .......

Our informal survey of my wife's piano moms indicates a pretty damned strong tilt to the right.
Did I say tilt? I meant 'fall' .... these folks are all falling waaaay over to the right. Its scary.
But that gets offset, I should guess, by Columbia.

7. Ehrlich is going to get a major boost if the base realignment goes through

THey basically are moving Walter Reed out of Virginia (which has democratic governor Mark Warner) and giving it to Bob Erhlich in hopes to boost his chance of re-election.
Mark Warner isn't up for re-election but he was strong in Virginia and a viable candidate for president. This whole manuever smells of politics. ANd the funny thing is - Sens Warner & Allen of VA will do nothing to stop this!

8. Walter Reed is actually in DC

But I think your point is still valid. However, I wonder how many Walter Reed employees/active duty people already live in MD?

I don't know how to send you a private message so I hope others won't mind me interrupting the thread to ask if you went to Tilden Junior High. I ask because my daughter had a friend there that she called LynneSin.
