In Maryland political news, Rep. Bartlett got a challenger out west in the 6th CD for a race sure to be as riveting as any of last year’s titanic congressional battles. see http://www.herald-mail.com/?module=displaystory&story_id=113628&format=print And the governor hired Harford County Executive Harkins as his new environment honcho. One can only imagine similar things to what we got out of former national EPA chief Christie Todd Whitman or her successor. link http://www.baltimoresun.com/news/local/harford/bal-md.harkins26may26,1,2048033.story?coll=bal-local-harford

| 1. I don't know anythng about Duck, but I like his creds ....... |

Retired military and a defense contractor who worked for Kerry (so we know where his political sympathies lie).
If he can walk the middle ground and not be seen as a left wing ideologue, he can win in the Realityville of conservative Western Maryland.
I'm encouraged by this. We don't need a liberal .... we just need a Dem who can win in such a conservative place. I don't tend to think this way on wider arena elections (I prefer liberals), but Congress is very much up close and personal ...... and there's a whole other mindset out that way. Now, if he's also a closet liberal, that would be evn better!
(Note: I am clearly guilty in this analysis of judging a book by its cover. BUt so too, I suspect, will be many voters.)
